Midlands based partnership developer Morro Partnerships has appointed Chris Miller as its new group partnerships director to drive strategic growth and strengthen collaboration across the region’s housing sector.
Chris brings more than 30 years of affordable housing and residential development experience to the role, following a long tenure as director of development at housing association Midland Heart.
In his new position, he will leverage client-side insight to nurture Morro’s extensive network of registered providers, local authorities and investors. His work will focus on shaping development schemes, optimising service delivery and advancing sustainable building methods – including Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) – to directly improve housing delivery across Midlands communities.
This appointment addresses a critical moment in the housing sector as developers and providers face major regulatory shifts, including compliance with the upcoming Future Homes Standard, Awaab’s Law and heightened environmental, social and governance (ESG) expectations.
With expanding infrastructure projects and new funding streams creating fresh opportunities in the Midlands, housing providers increasingly require specialist expertise to navigate complex regulatory landscapes while delivering social value. Chris’ transition from a leading housing association to the developer side provides an important link between provider challeners and development solutions.
Chris Miller, group partnerships director at Morro Partnerships, said: “Having worked alongside Morro as a Midland Heart partner for many years, I’ve always admired the culture, ethos and quality of the business. Moving to the developer side is an exciting change of scenery that allows me to use my background to bring real insight to our partnership work.
“The Midlands offers fantastic opportunities for growth, supported by major infrastructure projects and new funding streams for affordable housing. My focus will be on promoting Morro’s innovations – such as modern methods of construction and sustainable house types – while helping our partners meet their wider commitments, well beyond bricks and mortar. I am very excited for what’s to come.”
Moving forward, Chris will collaborate with Morro’s existing partner base to align ongoing schemes with upcoming regulatory frameworks and advance the deployment of sustainable house types. Further updates on new partnerships and projects are expected in the coming months.
Matt Moore, CEO at Morro Partnerships, said: “Chris is a hugely respected figure across the housing sector and having him join the Morro team is a brilliant step forward for our business. His deep understanding of what housing associations face on a day-to-day basis – from compliance to resident satisfaction – will be invaluable as we continue to refine our offering and deliver exceptional value to our partners.”
