Morro Partnerships commences new build development for Stoke on Trent City Council

  • 20th July
  • Community

Work is officially underway on a major new affordable housing development, marking Morro Partnerships’ flagship scheme for Stoke-on-Trent City Council. This exciting project is set to transform the local area, bringing modern living spaces to a historic community.

How our development helps meet growing housing demand

The 18-month construction timeline will deliver 77 new affordable homes built on the site of the former council yard. By regenerating a long-underused brownfield site, this project brings valuable land back into productive use for local families.

Morro took possession of the site in January 2026, marking the start of construction works following planning consent granted in October 2025. These new builds are being delivered constructed using traditional methods, ensuring high-quality build standards, durability and efficient delivery.

The redevelopment of the former council yard will provide much-needed affordable housing while supporting Stoke-on-Trent’s wider regeneration goals.

“Booth Street represents a significant milestone for us as our first development for Stoke City Council. It is a privilege to be working in partnership to bring forward the former council yard and transform it into 77 high quality, affordable homes. This project underlines our commitment not only to responsible delivery, but to creating lasting social and economic value for the local community.”

Tom Broadway managing director of Morro Partnerships in the West Midlands.

Environmental commitments and community benefits

Alongside delivering premier new builds in Stoke on Trent, Morro Partnerships has set ambitious environmental and social targets for the scheme, including:

  • Eco-friendly waste management: recycling up to 97% of on-site packaging waste
  • Green spaces: delivering a dedicated green community project
  • Community investment: providing 60 hours of volunteering, local business support programmes and ESG guidance for regional organisations.

Morro supporting Stoke on Trent’s regeneration

This project highlights a shared vision for sustainable urban growth.

“This is a real step forward in delivering quality, affordable homes for residents in Stoke-on-Trent. It fits into our wider regeneration goals, reinforces our brownfield first policy when it comes to building in the city and is delivering a boost for the local economy through supply chain contracts and skills training.”

Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, Cabinet Member for Transport, Infrastructure and Regeneration at Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
