Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are revolutionising housebuilding by moving much of the process from the building site into controlled factory environments.

This approach encompasses a range of innovative techniques, enhancing quality, reducing waste, and accelerating build times, to deliver more efficient and sustainable homes.

Our modern methods of construction services

Morro is at the forefront MMC. We harness cutting-edge materials and advanced manufacturing processes to deliver smarter, more efficient homes. Whether it’s off-site manufactured components, panelised solutions, or fully prefabricated structures, we’re building the future, today.

This includes:

Panelised systems (2D units)

Creating walls, floors, or roof sections in a factory that are then quickly put together on site. These can be timber frame, light gauge steel frame (LGSF) or structural insulated panels (SIPs), which are high performance composite panels.

Volumetric construction (3D units)

Building entire rooms or sections of a building (like bathroom pods or apartment modules) in a factory, which are then delivered and craned into place.

Off-site components and sub-assemblies

Manufacturing individual building elements like floor and roof cassettes, pre-formed wiring looms, and pre-cast concrete foundations or stair units in a factory for rapid on-site assembly.

Advanced on-site techniques

Using faster, more efficient building methods on site, such as special concrete casting or quick assembly blockwork.

We are committed to making our industry better tomorrow than it is today

The benefits of adopting MMC in building houses

  • Faster completion: significant reduction in on-site build time due to off-site manufacturing.
  • Higher quality: factory-controlled environments ensure precision, consistency, and fewer defects.
  • Reduced waste and carbon: optimised material use, less on-site waste, and lower operational energy for greener buildings.
  • Cost and time predictability: greater control over budgets and schedules with fewer site delays.
  • Enhanced safety: working conditions are more controlled and safer as tasks move from sites to factories.
  • Less site disruption: reduced noise, dust, and traffic for surrounding communities.
  • Addresses skills gaps: less reliance on traditional on-site trades, leveraging factory-based labour.

Why choose Morro for MMC

Morro has embraced MMC to deliver housing that is not only faster and more efficient to build but also offers superior quality and reduced environmental impact.

Our expertise spans various MMC solutions, including the precision of timber frame construction, and we are committed to building our knowledge to keep up with the latest innovations.

How our MMC is supporting growth and sustainability

Morro and The Innovation Hub are pioneering the march forward to a sustainably timber-led construction environment. The two quotes below are from leading players in the climate world.

The construction industry is seeing significant benefits working with mass timber. It’s a sustainable building material that can be prefabricated, requiring fewer workers and less safety concerns.
Gary KaplanAXA XL
While the 20th century may have been defined by steel and concrete, in the 21st we must live in greater harmony with nature and create a stronger forestry and timber industry which works together with our planet.
